One Prayer 2009 Kickoff

June 10, 2009 at 1:04 am (Uncategorized) (, , )

This past week we kicked of this years One Prayer series by hearing from Pastor Steven Furtick. Steven Pastors Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC.. What an incredible reminder he gave us that God is Great and God is Good. I was struck by how important it is to remember that those 2 things go together. You can’t have one without the other.

Pastor Steven brought down the roof at Shore Fellowship as he drove home God’s strength and God’s goodness. Join us this week as we will be hearing from Francis Chan. I think you will enjoy how it builds on the lessons we learned this past week at Shore. See you there. Invite someone to be with you and be on time.

The Betrayer’s Kiss

December 20, 2008 at 10:04 pm (Uncategorized) (, , )

If you were in Church last week, you heard me tell the story about Perry Noble’s little girl. She tried to kiss him right after she kissed the lid of the toilet. He said it made him think about how we kiss the toilet of this world all week long and then go to church on Sunday and try to kiss God. I don’t know about you, but that has stuck in my head all week.

It made me think about when Judas went to the garden to sell out Jesus. He had just kissed the world and struck a deal with the devil and now he is in the garden leaning in to kiss the Lord. And here is what stikes me to the “core”, Jesus let him. WOW!!! He didn’t back away but he let him kiss him, even though it was the kiss of a betrayer.  How much must God love us, when He sends His Son into this world to receive the betrayer’s kiss (from us) time and time again, and yet He still goes to the cross and pays the ultimate price for our sins so we can have a right relatonship with Him again.

So, before you slap one on the world again, think long and hard about God’s Love.

All In “The American Family”

November 5, 2008 at 6:05 pm (Uncategorized) (, , )

This week we are starting a new series called, The American Family. Over the last two decades we have not only seen an erosion of values, but we have had a front row seat to watch our families self destruct. Yes there are many families who have stood strong in the face of many obstacles, but based on some of your feedback The American Family is facing some very serious issues. Some that you have adressed are as follows:

- How do I as a single mom support my kids and still have time to instill values?

- What if I raise my kid and he/she turns from all the things they were taught?

- Should I put the needs of my kids before my marriage?

- How do I make sure that my kids don’t make the same mistakes I did?

There were so many more, but it lets you see the depth of what is happening in America today. I want to encourage you to come out this Sunday and invite someone to come with you. Also, don’t check out because your single. You will hear some things that can help you avoid the mistakes so many others have made. The highlight this weekend will be a video sharing some of the stories of our staff and how they were raised. You will be blown away by their stories and be encouraged that no matter where you find yourself, you can be used greatly by God. See You There!!! Don’t miss, you’ll regret it.
