Raising The Bar
Why is it that many Christians believe in Heaven and live like Hell instead of believing in Hell and living like heaven?
Col 3: 1Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.2 Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.
It is because all to often we live below the level of our beliefs. We tend to say one thing publicly and live quite another way privately. Except it’s not quite as private as we think. Here are some of the beliefs we would die for.
1- Jesus is the way
2- Prayer Changes things
3- You can trust God with everything
4- You will reap what you sow
5- Sin hinders your walk with the Lord
These tend to be principles that we will die for, but are we willing to live up to them and put them into practice? I have a belief. We really believe far less than we say we believe. Why, so we can save face, look good in front of our peers. But what is this facade doing to our souls? What happens when we continue to live at this level of mediocrity? We build a life that looks good for a while and nobody can see the difference, and we get so used to this Low Level Living that we don’t even realize how far we have sunk below the standards that God’s word has set for us. Eventually it will catches up to us and blows up in our face.
Isaiah 29:13 – The Lord says, These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
What is the most important thing you could bring with you to God? Your Heart!!! Full alliegence. It’s time to raise the bar and live up to what we say we believe.
