I’ll Take One Of Those

July 24, 2008 at 7:27 pm (Shore Fellowship, consumers)

It seems like everywhere you go if you want it your way all you have to do is ask. And if you don’t get it ask a little louder until someone gives in in an attempt to feed our consumerism.
In Mark 11, Jesus did a little re-arranging in the temple. Apparently He didn’t like the way they had decorated things. His house had taken on a whole different feel and look than what He wanted. And after all the last I checked it is His house, and He can design it any way He wants. But what was it that got Him so ANGRY??? I think it was the consumer mentality. That His house had become a place where people had become consumers and only focused on themselves and what was good for them and what they could put in their pockets. It had become all about them and not about Jesus.

I know there are some out there who have said Jesus would come into Shore Fellowship and tear up the bookstore and rip apart the cafe. After all they would say isn’t that what Jesus got upset about. That they were selling in the temple. Really, is that what you think? Is that what it was? I think there is a huge difference. For instance, as we provide resources for those in our family all the proceeds go back into the ministry not any ones pocket. Jesus was upset that His house had become an IHOC, International House Of Consumers. Ask yourself some questions:
– Am I always focused on whether the music was good for me?
- Do I just take from the church (consume) or do I really give back?
- How often do you critique and question everything that goes on?
- Are you always complaining about not “being fed”?

The big question is: Are you just consuming or are you being consumed by our incredible God who gives us the privilege of serving Him.

The Dark Knight

July 24, 2008 at 4:14 am (The Dark Knight, depression, sunday)

I have really enjoyed doing this series, Shore @ the Movies. We have looked at some key issues like anger & purity. This week we will touch on the issue of depression. Someone once said it is the common cold of emotional illness. It is amazing to find out how many people in the bible dealt with depression. I hope you will be there and hopefully invite someone to come out with you.

A good friend of mine Buddy Cremeans has had some great posts on the subject this month. Check out his blog and read Solutions for Dark Seasons parts 1-3 and The Dark Side Of Men 1-6.

See you on Sunday. We will have an interview with Dr. Ron Newman and also one of our very own will share his struggle with depression. And by the way, the music is going to be off the charts. Get there early if you want to hear our bands arrangement of Batman.

That Was Quick

July 20, 2008 at 10:57 pm (engagement, purity)

This morning at Shore Fellowship we continued our series, Shore @ the Movies. Today we talked about What Happens in Vegas. We spent the morning talking about purity and God’s passion for us to be holy. Part of the set today was one of our staff asking his girlfriend to marry him. Check out the video, and watch how fast she said yes. I think it was so cool to have it as a part of our service.

Sunday Night Smackdown – 7/13/08

July 14, 2008 at 1:41 am (sunday, worship)

This has been a great week, and today was nothing short of amazing. Let me share with you a few of the highlights.

- New Worship Leader started today. Really brought a fresh feel to the service. People were really worshiping.
- The entire team stepped up this week:
Eric gave us a great idea for the intro video.
Trevor redid our opening video and put together a promo for next week that was hot.
Creative Team brought a ton to the table and it came out in the message.
Steve made an “Incredible” Hulk today.
Bill’s design of the stage and lobby really created a stunning environment. People were even taking pictures. hahaha Loved the Popcorn.
Dave and Jim put in tons of work to get the lighting down.
Dan and his crew. All the grunt work was worth it. The ticket booth in th lobby was off the charts.
Jeff’s videos and service production was seamless. I like seeing it make him smile.
John, great 1st Sunday. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
Media room. You were on top of it today.
Tom Carty – Dude, your graphics work made the place look unbelievable.
- If we were a 8 cylinder vehicle we were running on 10 today.
- Huge offering last week helped with the non summer slump we normally find ourselves in.
- Sent the kids off to camp.
- Got permission to put our new sign up. Can’t wait for people to see it.
- So glad we went to 3 services in June. We are up 150 people just in the auditorium.

Here is a comment on todays services:

I just wanted to say, Pastor Tim… you and the entire staff hit it out of the park today! I was so excited for John to begin and I was not let down at all! It was amazing… the praise even had me crying (which I admit is not very hard to do!)… the sound was incredible and beautiful (reminded me A LOT of LCBC!) and the message was just dead on! The message and the delivery was so great. It was truly a monumental service for me! I am so fired up and excited to just truly ‘chew’ on the message and the scriptures (again… definitely not the first time I have read them but they always bring you back to reality!) and I know next week will not disappoint. Thanks again for ALL the time, thought, prayer and passion put in to each week, but especially today service! Shore truly rocks!

Guest Blogger: Jeff Whitaker ( Pastor Of Worship Programing)

July 13, 2008 at 2:19 am (Worship Leader, worship)

I have a lot of anticipation leading up to tomorrows new series, Shore At The Movies. I have to take a bow to so many people who came together, went above and beyond to create the atmosphere for the series. From the graphics to props to every aspect of what worshippers will see as they enter our church tomorrow, this one is over the top!

Those of you who read this and are a part of the “Shore Fellowship Family“, you are in for a treat. It has been our goal to really make this series extra special as Pastor Tim Chambers has challenged us all to reach out to our family, friends and any one we come across who needs the life-changing message of Jesus. If you read this and don’t normally worship anywhere, you don’t want to miss tomorrows service. The icing of the cake tomorrow is the debut of our new worship leader, John Redding. John is joining our already very talented team of musicians and singers and worship at Shore Fellowship is going to a whole new level. Those of you who’ve heard John lead in the past know of what I speak.

Again, if you don’t normally worship anywhere, you need to be at Shore tomorrow. Show up tomorrow at one of our three worship experiences, 8:30, 10 or 11:30 and tell me if I’m not right!See you for worship tomorrow morning.

Don’t Miss Out

July 8, 2008 at 5:55 pm (Uncategorized)

The next several weeks at Shore Fellowship are going to be monumental as we attempt to break the usual trend of a summer slump. It is our belief that the summer is the best time to start tracking with God.

This Sunday we introduce our new Worship Leader, John Redding. We anticipate incredible things in the weeks to come. We also start a new series, Shore at the Movies. In this series we will take some of the current Hollywood Blockbusters and use them to teach some of the Bible’s timeless truths. This coming Sunday we will highlight The Incredible Hulk. Maybe you haven’t noticed, but he has a little bit of an anger problem, and if the truth were to be told so do many of us.

In the following weeks we will look at other themes from movies like What Happens in Vegas, Hancock, and The Dark Knight.

We would like this to be a month where we are excited to be in church, be on time, and invite as many of our friends as possible.

So we ask you to be a part of this team effort as we seek to engage our community by showing them how relevant the Bible is to their daily lives.

P.S. Be on time or you’ll probably miss something you will regret. (8:30, 10:00, &11:30am)

God Bless,

Pastor Tim Chambers
