Have A Great New Year!
As I sit here in the Orlando Airport waiting to fly back home I am so looking forward to what’s next. In this next year I want to be able to say “I get it”. If we could all just “get it”, imagine what God could do. I believe there is a prayer that we can pray this year that could pay huge dividends for the Kingdom of God. The prayer goes something like this, “Lord, burden my heart with what burdens yours. Let me dream what you dream, and let what matters most to you matter most to me”. What if we all prayed that prayer and meant it? I think God would not only smile, but I’ve got a hunch He would go to work in a heart beat. What do you think?
Get Your Feet Wet – For Leaders
You always hear people say “Follow the Leader”. But what if the leader isn’t going anywhere? Or what if the Leader is unwilling to take the first step? What happens then? In most cases the incredible gets buried six feet under. Because leaders are meant to lead, and followers are meant to follow.
In the book of Joshua in chapter 3, you have the children of Israel getting ready to cross the Jordan, to finally go in and posses the land they should have claimed 40 years earlier. Of course that didn’t happen because at that time the leaders were unwilling to get their feet wet. But on this occasion the Priests stepped into the water and God parted the river and allowed the children of Israel to walk across on dry land. But don’t miss this, IT TOOK A LEADER TO GET HIS FEET WET FIRST!!! You will find this principle all throughout the bible. So my question is this what is God asking you to do as a Leader? How do you need to Get Your Feet Wet? What do you have to do first so those who follow will see your example and then they will run through a brick wall. Go ahead, I dare you. Step out into the water and lead the way.
Keep It Real
At this time of year one of our greatest struggles is, should I get a fake tree or a real tree? I was just reading a friend’s Blog and he was contemplating going with a fake one for the first time in his life. That got me thinking, when was the first time that you decided to go fake. People buy a fake tree and then spray it with pine freshener to get it to smell like the real thing. They light scented candles to produce the effect of a real tree. It seems like we put more effort into going artificial than we would if we just went with th real thing.
Don’t we do the same with life. We are so afraid that someone might see us for who we really are so we start being artificial and cover up the real person on the inside. I know I do it myself. Last Sunday I told on myself how I put my interest in front of my families. I was amazed by how many people were so glad that I screw up as a pastor. I think we would be so much better off if we would spend less time on being fake and more time on “KEEPING IT REAL”. Let me know your thoughts on how we can keep it real.
